Lisette Huizenga, a painter who integrates cutting- edge digital technology and philosophy to challenge our views of reality
The move from painting on canvas to ‘digital’ painting was an intentional one for Lisette Huizenga, who graduated in painting from the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague in 2009. While Huizenga enjoyed the process of painting, she wanted to go beyond the boundaries that this traditional medium offered. As Huizenga draws a great deal of inspiration from innovation, seeing how the digital world would affect her work was a natural move, especially as she wanted to challenge the viewer, having them call to question what is real and what is an illusion. By using digital technology to paint, Huizenga not only is a forerunner in the evolution of this medium, but also in using it to make the seemingly impossible possible.
